$19,500 Raised At Tip-A-Gull

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls helped raise $19,500 at their annual "Tip-A-Gull" event, held Sunday at downtown's Dick's Last Resort. The money, which will go to United Cerebral Palsy and KSWB Cares for Kids, was the most raised in the 12-year history of the event.
During the event, Gulls players served as waiters, greeters and bartenders to the standing room only crowd at Dick's Last Resort. They also assisted 91X on-air talent Steve West with a live action, which featured NHL, MLB, NFL and Gulls memorabilia.
The proceeds will benefit UCP of San Diego County and KSWB Cares for Kids. UCP is recognized as one of the largest and most efficient health charities in America, and its affiliate in San Diego spends approximately 84 percent of its total income on community programs and services.
The KSWB Cares for Kids Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, was established to improve the lives of children and families in San Diego County by supporting local children's charities. Since its inception, the KSWB Cares For Kids Fund has donated more than $9 million to local children's charities.
Last year the Gulls helped raise $12,000, which is now the second most in "Tip-A-Gull" history. In the previous two years, a grand total of $14,947 was raised.
So far this season, the Gulls have donated $119,500 to various community organizations.
