Cutters Receive 2007 Community Outreach Award

NEW HAVEN, CT - The New Haven County Cutters were presented with the 2007 Community Outreach Award, recognizing the organization's community efforts in New Haven County, during a ceremony Friday morning in the Atrium at New Haven's City Hall.
NB Solutions (Richmond, VA), a consulting company specializing in the development of inner-city communities, selected the Cutters as this year's award recipient based on the team's work and commitment to the community during the last three and a half years.
"The Cutters have made consistent efforts to reach out into the New Haven community and be a resource," Jonathan Davis, a principal with NB Solutions said. "Not only are their doors always open to the community, but they proactively seek the community out."
West Haven Mayor John M. Picard joined NB Solutions in presenting the Cutters with the award.
"Since the Cutters' inception in 2004, our primary focus has been to help support and improve the New Haven County community," Marie Heikkinen Webb, General Manager, New Haven County Cutters, said. "To be recognized with an award of this kind is both a tremendous achievement and proud honor.
In December 2006, the Cutters reorganized their community relations effort and launched "Cutters Baseball: Off the Field and in the Community", a program designed to promote the team's dedication to the community and encourage non profit organizations to utilize the Cutters' fundraising opportunities.
