Brockton, MA (May 25, 2007) - A Rox Opening Night record crowd of 5,607 watched OF Joe Hough lead off the bottom of the first with a homerun to left field and later drive home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Brockton Rox beat the New Haven County Cutters 4-1 on Opening Night at Campanelli Stadium. RHP Mike McTamney gave up just one run in six innings while striking out seven in a no decision on the hill, while RHP Luis Carreras pitched two scoreless innings out of the pen for the win. After Hough homered on the third pitch of the offensive night, the Rox were quiet until later in the contest. New Haven County tied the game on an RBI groundout by 2B Matt Mercurio in the sixth, and Cutters' LHP Brad Whitworth settled into a groove in the middle innings. In the seventh, 3B Fredy De La Cruz reached on an error and with two outs, Hough drove a single to the gap to plate the go-ahead run. In the eighth, the Rox scored two insurance runs.
