Cutters Fall To Spikes In Rubber Match

The Williamsport Crosscutters jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but couldn't hold on to their lead. Josh Warner allowed three runs in the fourth inning and the Cutters couldn't provide a comeback in an 8-3 loss to State College.

Justin Parr helped get the Cutters on the board first with an RBI single up the middle. Then, Gustavo Martinez hit an RBI single to right field.

Steven Ramos hit a two-run single to centerfield to put the Spikes on the board. Jimmy Bosco followed up with an RBI single to right field to tie the game.

Ronald Castillo gave State College the lead for good in the fifth with an RBI single to center field. Castillo came in to score when Luke Voit reached on an error by Justin Parr. Jimmy Bosco also had an RBI single to cap off the three-run inning.

In the seventh, Ronald Castillo drove in a run with an RBI single to left field and advanced to second on a wild pitch by Chris Burgess. Two batters later, Castillo scored on another wild pitch from Burgess.

Logan Pierce drove in a run for Williamsport in the top of the eighth with an RBI single to center field, but the Spikes responded in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from Castillo.

The Crosscutters drop to 1-2 and begin a three-game series with the Jamestown Jammers Thursday at Jamestown at 7:05 P.M.
