Curve to Host MLB Rehabs for Pirates INF/OF Tucupita Marcano, LHP Dillon Peters and RHP Duane Underwood Jr. on Tuesday

CURVE, PA - The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Tuesday, June 28 that for the first time in franchise history, three Pirates players are slated to rehab at Peoples Natural Gas Field. INF/OF Tucupita Marcano, LHP Dillon Peters, and RHP Duane Underwood Jr. will all rehab with the Curve beginning with Tuesday's game against Harrisburg at 6:00 p.m.

Six times in franchise history the Curve have hosted two players on rehab assignment in the same game, most recently August 11, 2019 when Francisco Cervelli and Clay Holmes rehabbed with the Curve.

Marcano opened the season with Altoona and batted .312 with 7 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR and 13 RBI in 29 games with the Curve. He was previously recalled to Pittsburgh on April 26 and optioned back to Altoona on April 30, he most recently joined the Pirates on May 27 before being placed on the COVID IL on June 17. In 19 games with the Pirates this season, Marcano is hitting .262 with 3 2B,2 HR, 5 RBI and one stolen base. Acquired in the Adam Frazier trade in July of 2021, Marcano is slated to start Tuesday's game in left field for Altoona.

Peters was acquired by the Pirates from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations on July 19, 2021. In 16 appearances, four starts, this season for Pittsburgh, Peters has gone 4-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 25.2 IP he's allowed just 14 hits, walked 16 and struck out 21. Peters hails from Indianapolis, IN and was originally selected in the 10th round by the Miami Marlins in 2014 out of the University of Texas. He was traded from Miami to Los Angeles (AL) on November 21, 2018 in a deal that sent RHP Tyler Stevens to the Marlins. A 29-year-old, Peters is recovering from a back injury that sent him to the injured list on June 3, he is expected to start Tuesday's game against Harrisburg.

Underwood is recovering from a stint on the COVID IL, beginning on June 13. Previously, Underwood rehabbed with the Curve on May 10 against Somerset throwing a scoreless inning allowing one hit, one walk and one strikeout on 18 pitches, 11 strikes.

Originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the second round out of Alan C. Pope HS in Marietta, GA in 2012, Underwood was acquired by the Pirates on March 7, 2021, in exchange for 1B Shendrik Apostel. In 2021 with Pittsburgh, Underwood was leading all Major League relief pitchers in innings pitched (72.2) when his season was cut short due to a right shoulder injury on September 5. Overall, he made 43 appearances for the Pirates and recorded a 2-3 record with a 4.33 ERA. He picked up 65 strikeouts during his 2021 campaign. In his career, Underwood has made 84 appearances, one start, in the majors with the Cubs and Pirates, recording a 4.57 ERA with 127 strikeouts in 126.0 innings pitched.
