Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - Dillon Peters, Tucupita Marcano, and Duane Underwood Jr. all joined forces on Major League rehab to help Altoona open the second half of the season with a win over Harrisburg, 8-3, on Tuesday night at PNG Field.

Peters, working his way back from a back injury, was used as the opener and tossed a scoreless first inning with one strikeout. Underwood, returning from the COVID-IL, made his second rehab appearance with Altoona this season and tossed two scoreless frames in relief. Marcano, who also is returning from the COVID-IL, led off for the Curve in left field and drew two walks, scoring twice in his return to the Altoona lineup. The win marked the first game in franchise history for Altoona to have three MLB rehab players appear.

Jared Triolo hit his third home run of the season in the win, a three-run shot off starter Luis Reyes (L, 2-4) in the first inning. Reyes would surrender five more runs in the second as the Curve jumped out to the 8-0 lead. Henry Davis, with runners on first and second, lifted a ball off the wall in right-center for a bases-clearing double. Matt Gorski scored Davis two batters later on a double of his own before Blake Sabol knocked an RBI-single to score Gorski. Aaron Shackelford scored on a throwing error by Reyes earlier in the inning.

The Sabol hit in the second inning, which came off reliever Danny Dopico, was the last hit of the game for the Curve. Dopico and Francys Peguero combined to toss 6.1 innings of relief, striking out eight batters and allowing no hits after the second inning.

Luis Ortiz (W, 3-4) tossed five innings after the opener Peters. He allowed three runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Drew Millas knocked an RBI-single in the fifth before Justin Connell hit a two-run home run in the sixth. Omar Cruz tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout.

Davis extended his hitting streak in the win to four games. It was his fourth double over that stretch as well. Triolo has now drawn 11 walks over his last seven games. The Curve improve to 1-0, 34-36 with the win to open the second half of the season.

Altoona continues its six-game series with Harrisburg on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Carmen Mlodzinski takes the ball for the Curve, with RHP Jake Irvin on the mound for Harrisburg. There will be Kenny Chesney themed fireworks following the game, presented by DBB, 1st Summit Bank, Roll's Meat Market, and Hollidaysburg Family Dental.
