Curve Roll Richmond for Third Straight Win

RICHMOND, Va. - Behind a ten-hit attack and another strong start on the mound, the Altoona Curve beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 8-2, on Tuesday night at The Diamond.
The Curve (12-10) have won three straight games on the road trip, closing within one game of the division-leading Flying Squirrels (14-10) in the standings.
Altoona starter Dario Agrazal (Win, 2-0) worked six innings and allowed one run on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 1.47, which is ranked fifth in the Eastern League.
After four quiet innings to open the game, the Curve erupted for four runs in the fifth against Richmond reliever Jake McCasland (Loss, 0-1). Will Craig doubled to start the inning, and he was followed by an Elvis Escobar single and a walk to Christian Kelley to load the bases with no outs.
In his second-ever professional plate appearance, Agrazal reached on an infield single to score Craig and break the scoreless tie. Two batters later, Stephen Alemais drove a two-run single and Jason Martin followed with a run-scoring single to open the lead to 4-0.
In the sixth, Craig knocked an RBI double and later scored on a sac fly by Kelley to extend the Curve lead to 6-0.
Richmond broke the shutout in the bottom of the sixth when pinch-hitter Matt Lipka led off the inning with a triple and scored on a groundout by Luigi Rodriguez.
Yeudy Garcia worked around a walk and a hit batter with a pair of strikeouts to post a scoreless seventh inning.
In the eighth, Kelley drove a two-run double to extend the Altoona advantage to 8-1.
Bret Helton worked the final two innings, allowing one run in the ninth on a solo homer by Jerry Sands and struck out a season-high three batters.
Kelley went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, scoring twice. Craig finished the game 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.
The Curve look to sweep the Flying Squirrels in the series finale on Wednesday morning. Lefty Brandon Waddell (0-0, 1.88) will start for the Curve, opposed by Richmond lefty Garrett Williams (1-0, 4.96). First pitch is scheduled for 10:35 a.m. at The Diamond.
