Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA - Curve fans were able to celebrate the Fourth of July Holiday with a breathtaking fireworks show at Blair County Ballpark on Friday night. A season-best 8,288 fans packed the park to cheer on the Curve and witness the unveiling of the 10th Anniversary All-Time Team.

The Harrisburg Senators, though spoiled the fun on the field for the Curve with a 12-2 win over Altoona.

The Curve jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring a pair of runs off Harrisburg starter Jordan Zimmermann (3-2) in the bottom of the first. Back-to-back RBI singles by Jason Delaney and Brad Corley put the Curve ahead early.

Harrisburg would immediately respond, grabbing a single run in the top of the second to cut the Curve lead in half.

Lost in the ten run defeat was a strong outing by Curve starter Kyle Bloom. The southpaw tossed five solid innings and allowed just one run on four hits, but received a no-decision.

Bloom gave way to reliever Jeff Sues (3-1). Sues was only able to record one out against the five batters he faced. He was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs on two hits while he also issued two walks. At that point Harrisburg lead 5-2 and didn't look back the rest of the night.

Harrisburg (47-38) scored additional runs in each of the final four innings in the rout, which sent the Curve (36-49) to their ninth loss in 12 games. A usually solid Curve bullpen faltered on Friday. The combination of Pat Bresnehan, Ronald Belisario and Christian Castorri proceeded to allow seven addition runs on 11 hits over the next 3 2/3 innings.

The Curve will look to grab the second game of the four-game set on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Luis Munoz (1-2, 7.11) will make his fourth start of the year for Altoona, while Harrisburg will give the ball to righty Adrian Alaniz (0-1, 4.50)

On Saturday, fans will be treated to an appearance by former Steelers legend Louis Lipps who will be on hand to meet with fans, sign free autographs and throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

After the game on Saturday, ten lucky fans will have a chance to chase down $1,000 which will be dropped from a helicopter hovering over the BCB outfield during the Curve's first-ever Money Drop.

Great seats for Saturday's game and the remaining three games of the Curve homestand are still available and can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE, online at AltoonaCurve.com or in person at the BCB box office.
