Arencibia, Smith hit singles in 6-0 loss to Thunder

Manchester, NH- J.P. Arencibia and David Smith both had base hits for the New Hampshire Primaries, but the Fourth of July crowd of 6,106 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium had to wait for the post-game Atlas Fireworks Show to celebrate as the Trenton Thunder shut out the Primaries 6-0 on Friday night.

Trenton (52-34) took a 1-0 lead against losing pitcher Robert Ray (3-2) in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single from Ramiro Pena (1-for-4, 2 RBI).

The Thunder added four more runs against Ray in the sixth inning. Edwar Gonzalez (2-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI) hit a double to right-center field, Joe Muich (1-for-4, RBI) blooped a run-scoring single to center, Reegie Corona (2-for-2, SF, RBI) added a sacrifice fly and Pena (1-for-4, 2 RBI) drove in the Thunder's fifth run with a fielder's choice grounder. Ray was reached for five runs on eight hits in five-plus innings. The right-hander struck out four, walked two and hit a batter.

Trenton capped the scoring in the top of the seventh inning when Gonzalez belted his sixth home run of the year off Jean Machi into the Poultry Products Dinner in the Den.

New Hampshire (32-54) was held to just two hits by winning pitcher Phil Coke (7-3),

Coke went seven innings, striking out six and walking two.

Anthony Claggett pitched two perfect innings of relief to close it out.

The Fisher Cats return to action Saturday night at 7:05pm with left-hander Brett Cecil (3-1, 2.91) on the mound against Thunder right-hander Eric Hacker (3-1, 1.85). Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
