Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa.- The Altoona Curve and Richmond Flying Squirrels were suspended due to rain on Tuesday night tied 1-1 in the top half of the tenth inning at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The game will be picked up where it left off tomorrow morning in the top half of the tenth at 10:30 a.m. with Luis Sanz on the mound for Altoona. After tonight's game is completed, the two teams will play their regularly scheduled nine-inning after a 30-minute break.

The Curve rally in the bottom of the ninth began when Andy Vasquez singled with one out. After Gift Ngoepe struck out, Charlie Cutler blasted a two-strike double down the line in right to bring Vasquez in from first and tie the game. Mel Rojas, Jr. followed with a walk before Jarek Cunningham struck out to end the inning and send the game to extras before the rains came.

Casey Sadler turned in a career-day on the mound for the Curve in his third Double-A start of the young season. The right-hander tied a career-high by working seven innings on Tuesday night for the first time since August 10, 2012 when he pitched for Bradenton. Sadler scattered five hits and allowed just one run while walking two and striking out a season-high five.

The Flying Squirrels offense got to Sadler in the top half of the fourth inning. Ricky Oropesa and Andrew Susac led off the frame with back-to-back singles. After a sacrifice bunt from Jarrett Parker, Ryan Lollis plated the Squirrels lone run with an RBI groundout to second base.

Taylor Rogers matched Sadler pitch for pitch early on. The right-hander tossed five shutout innings for the Flying Squirrels in his second start of the season. Rogers allowed just two hits, but did issue five walks and struck out five.

Wednesday morning is the first of three Education Days in Curve, Pa. this season and will also be the first WALY 103.9 Four Pack Wednesday of the season. Fans can receive four tickets, four hot dogs, and four regular sodas at Wednesday morning's game for just $35 thanks to WALY 103.9.

Taking the hill for the Curve after the first-game is completed will be RHP Jameson Taillon (1-1, 1.64), who set a career-high with 10 strikeouts in his last start despite not recording a win. He'll be opposed by Squirrels LHP Chris Gloor (0-0, 9.00) in his second start of the young season.
