Round Rock Express News Release

A three-run home run provided the only runs for the Wichita Wranglers in a 3-1 win over the Round Rock Express.

821 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium saw a wonderful pitcher's duel between Round Rock's Ruddy Lugo and Wichita's Eric Thompson, although Lugo was the first to blink.

Lugo left one pitch too high to Marco Cunningham and watched his mistake end up beyond the outfield wall for a 3-0 deficit, the only runs the Express pitching staff would give up.

That was enough for Thompson, who moved to 10-0 since joining the Wranglers. He allowed only three hits and no runs in seven innings before giving way to Javier Vasquez. Anthony Acevedo got Round Rock on the board in the ninth with an RBI double, but that's all the Express could muster.

Lugo (4-14) took the loss.

The final game of the series and the final road game of the 2003 season will be Wednesday at 7 p.m.
