Cubs Take Saturday Win over OKC, 5-2

Des Moines, Iowa - Bryan LaHair belted a go-ahead, two-run home run in the third inning sending the Iowa Cubs (43-51) to a 5-2 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (40-54) before 10,486 Saturday night at Principal Park.

Cubs starter Casey Coleman (3-2) allowed two runs and six hits with four strikeouts in six innings for the winning decision. RedHawks starter Sergio Perez (4-8) allowed three runs and six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in four and one-thirds innings for the loss. Scott Maine (9) saved the game for Iowa with a scoreless ninth inning.

Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the first inning. Luis Durango led off with a single and scored on a Collin Delome triple to centerfield for a 1-0 score. Robinson Cancel next grounded out to second base to bring in Delome for a 2-0 score.

Iowa broke through against Perez in the third inning. Brett Jackson doubled with one out and scored on a D.J. LeMahieu single to right field for a 2-1 score. After the second out of the inning, Bryan LaHair blasted a two-run home run to right field, his league-leading 27th of the season and second of the series, for a 3-2 Iowa lead.

The Cubs added two insurance runs in the eighth inning. Brad Snyder tripled and scored on a Ryan Flaherty double for a 4-2 score. Jackson later singled with two out to score Flaherty for a 5-2 Cubs lead.
