Normal CornBelters News Release
NORMAL, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, struggled to get anything going offensively Wednesday night, as they fell to the Lake Erie Crushers 1-0 at the Corn Crib.
The first six innings of the game were dominated by starting pitching, as Normal's Tyler Lavigne (1-0) and Lake Erie's Paul Fagan (0-1) kept the score knotted at zeros. CornBelter reliever Ryan Krumlauf (0-1) threw a scoreless 7th before surrendering a two out, two strike double to Adrian Ortiz in the top of the 8th, plating Wally Correa for the game's only run.
Sam Judah and Alvaro Ramirez contributed two hits each to the cause for Normal, while designated hitter Brantley Meier added a double and reached base after a dropped third strike. CornBelter closer Marshall Schuler worked a one-two-three 9th inning as well.
The 'Belters continue the series on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Left-hander Justin Albert (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will take the ball for Normal against Crushers' right-hander Eric Gonzalez-Diaz (0-1, 3.60 ERA). Pre-game on WJBC.com is at 6:20.
It's Thirst Quenching Thursday at the Corn Crib. Fans can enjoy $1 drafts as well as $1 Beer Nuts Peanuts & Bar Mix. The night will also feature a Bud Light Pint Glass Giveaway to fans age 21 and over.
