AVON, Ohio -- The Lake Erie Crushers scored their first home victory since May 27, with a 7-3 victory over the Washington Wild Things at All Pro Freight Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The win for the Crushers (9-15) snapped a seven game home losing streak, while the loss for the Wild Things (11-16) prevented what would have been their first ever sweep at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The game endured a pair of rain delays. The game started 32 minutes late, and in the top of the third, the two teams endured a 36-minute rain delay.

After the second rain delay, the Crushers had to go to the bullpen, as Kolby Moore took over for newly acquired Zach Morton. With runners on second and third and two out, a wild pitch scored Daniel Poma to give the Wild Things a 1-0 lead.

Lake Erie didn't take long to respond, as they tied things up in the bottom of the third. Juan Sanchez extended his hitting streak to eight games, with a one-out double down the line in right, and scored the game tying run on Joey Burney's two-out single to right field.

In the sixth inning, Lake Erie capitalized on a one-out throwing error to plate a pair of runs. Emmanuel Quiles walked to start the inning, and Burney followed with a single, before Jose Barraza moved them over on a sacrifice bunt. Frank Desico then hit a groundball to third, and Washington third baseman Carter Bell's errant throw ended up in foul territory on the first base side, which plated two runs and put Desico on third. Kevin Franchetti then drove Desico home on a sacrifice fly.

Desico came through for the Crushers again in the bottom of the seventh inning to help them pull away. The bases were loaded with two outs, when Desico smashed a triple to the gap in right-center to clear the bases, giving Lake Erie a 7-1 lead.

Washington scored single runs in the eighth and ninth, on sacrifice fly balls from Brady North and Austin Wobrock, but it was not enough.

Trevor Longfellow (2-1) scored the victory for the Crushers, tossing a trio of scoreless innings in relief, and allowed just a pair of hits while striking out four. Tim Flight (2-2) allowed four runs, one earned on four hits over 5.1 innings of action, and took the loss.

Burney paced the Crushers offensively, going 3-for-4, with a pair of runs an a RBI, while Cody Stevens hit safely twice, going 2-for-4, and Sanchez extended his hitting streak to eight games with the double in the third inning.

The Crushers are off on Monday, but will begin a three-game series with the Florence Freedom at All Pro Freight Stadium on Tuesday night. Left-hander Brad Zambron (0-2, 5.96) will start for the Crushers, while the Freedom will throw right-hander Coleman Stephens (2-3, 4.54). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
