Syracuse Crunch News Release
Glens Falls, NY - A perfect outing by the Crunch penalty kill unit and a 22-save effort by Crunch goaltender Dustin Tokarski lifted the Crunch to a 4-1 victory against the Adirondack Phantoms tonight at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
The Crunch held the Phantoms scoreless on seven power play attempts to improve to 5-1-1-1 on the season. The Phantoms fall to 3-5-0-0.
Cory Conacher opened the scoring and gave the Crunch a 1-0 lead with his sixth goal of the season at the 10:03 mark of the first frame. Conacher skated from neutral ice into the offensive zone before backhanding the puck past Phantoms netminder Cal Heeter for the unassisted score.
The Phantoms tied the game at the 17:37 mark of the first when left wing Harry Zolnierczyk tipped a point shot past Tokarski. Cullen Eddy and Sean Courturier were credited with the helpers.
Richard Panik put the Crunch back on top by lifting a rebound over Heeter 5:41 into the second stanza. Tyler Johnson scored on a shot from the circle just under two minutes later to extend the Crunch lead to 3-1. Matt Taormina and J.P. Cote picked up the assists on Johnson's goal.
Crunch defenseman Taormina added a shorthanded, empty net goal with under a minute to play to secure a final score of 4-1.
The Crunch face the Hamilton Bulldogs in their next two contests, they play in Hamilton on Nov. 7 and then travel to Montreal to face the Bulldogs in the Bell Centre on Nov. 9.
