NORFOLK, VA. - The Binghamton Senators ended the Norfolk Admirals 19-game home winning streak tonight with a final score of 4-3 at the Scope Arena in the first game of a two-game set. Shots on goal favored Binghamton, 37 to 31.
After a scoreless first period, the Admirals struck first and took the lead over Binghamton on a goal scored by forward Emerson Etem at 2:10 in the second. The B-Sens later retaliated at 10:33 to tie the game at one thanks to a goal scored by Andre Petersson from Mika Zibanejad and Jakob Silfverberg.
The Admirals regained the lead when forward Peter Holland netted a goal assisted at the 14:24 mark with helpers from Sami Vatanen and Kyle Palmieri. Norfolk's one-goal advantage didn't last long as Hugh Jessiman, assisted by Tyler Eckford and Mark Borowiecki, tied the score at two just 93 seconds later. Binghamton scored again just before the end of the period as Mike Hoffman netted one to make it 4-3 with 58 seconds remaining in the middle frame. Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Andre Benoit drew the assists on Hoffman's goal.
The Admirals quickly evened the score 1:14 into the third when Etem, assisted by Luca Caputi, netted his second goal of the game. The B-Sens were able to break the 3-3 tie and hold on for the victory as Patrick Wiercioch, assisted by Stephane Da Costa, scored the go-ahead goal with 8:01 remaining in regulation.
Binghamton goaltender Robin Lehner allowed three goals and made 28 saves to earn his fourth win of the season. Norfolk's Igor Bobkov stopped 33 shots but came away with the loss.
