IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Springfield Falcons kick off the month of November when they welcome the Hershey Bears to the MassMutual Center for the only time in 2012-2013 at 7:00 p.m. The Falcons lead the Eastern Conference with 11 points and have tied a franchise record through seven games with a 5-1-0-1 beginning to the regular season.
The first 1,000 fans 12 and under in attendance will receive a free lunchbox courtesy of New England Pathology Associates. Prior to the game, Westfield State University and Western New England University will battle for the Fifth Annual Falcons Cup at 3:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office. After an idle Saturday, Springfield closes out the weekend with the first of 12 meetings with the Connecticut Whale, as the Falcons head to the XL Center on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Single-game tickets to see the Falcons in 2012-2013 can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through game time on Saturday home dates, and starting four hours prior to Sunday home contests. Fans can also purchase tickets by logging onto Ticketmaster.com.
MCELHINNEY'S MAJESTIC MONTH
Curtis McElhinney tied for the AHL lead in October with five wins and two shutouts, was fourth with a .949 save percentage, and ranked fifth in the league with a 1.51 goals-against average. McElhinney was named the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for October, becoming the second Falcon ever to win that award (Jonathan Boutin, December of 2006). The AHL Goaltender of the Month accolade was the second of McElhinney's career. He also received it in April of 2007, while playing with Omaha.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Hershey comes to town a winner of two-straight games, closing out last weekend with victories over Albany and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. A pair of Springfield natives make their return to the area tonight, as rookies T.J. Syner and Barry Almeida are both sporting Bears jerseys in 2012-2013. The Bears, 11-time Calder Cup champions, are led by co-coaches Adam Oates and Mark French. Hershey holds a 20-10-10 record all-time against Springfield.
