
Crosscutters Split Doubleheader vs. Mahoning Valley

Williamsport, Pa. - The Williamsport Crosscutters split a Thursday night doubleheader with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers winning the first game 8-1 but falling in the nightcap 3-2. The games marked the Bowman Field debut of first-rounder Bryson Stott who went 1-for-4 across both games with two runs scored.
In the Game One blowout, Williamsport blasted out three triples and two home runs. Logan O'Hoppe lifted out his team-leading fourth of the season on a three-run blast in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-1. And Hunter Hearn followed with a solo shot in the sixth inning which was his second long-ball of the season. Williamsport's first scoring of the night came on back-to-back triples in the second inning by Logan O'Hoppe and Hunter Markwardt.
Adam Cox (1-0) recorded his first professional win retiring all eight batters he faced in relief. Omar Maldonado kept the streak going with six straight outs of his own to finish it off.
Game Two began with the Cleveland Indians' affiliate taking a 3-0 lead in the first three innings against starter Jose Conopoima (0-3) on three sacrifice flies. The Scrappers had only four hits in each game of the doubleheader.
Williamsport had an RBI single from Corbin Williams in the third and then an RBI hit by D.J. Stewart in the fourth that drove in Herbert Iser who had tripled off the top of the wall in right. But Mahoning Valley's Serafino Brito slammed the door in a three-inning stint at the end allowing just one run.
Williamsport and Mahoning Valley are even in the season series at 4-4.
It was the fourth doubleheader of the season for the Cutters who three splits in their twin-bills including in both of their double-dips vs. the Scrappers.
The Crosscutters are back in action on a Fireworks Friday night to wrap up their series against Mahoning Valley at 7:05. RHP Tyler Burch (1-0) is the pitching probably for Williamsport
