"Game That Never Ends" Ends, 'Birds Split Doubleheader

ABERDEEN, M.D. - A game that never ended finally ended on July 18th, 16 days and two attempts after it was supposed to. Aberdeen walked it off against the Connecticut Tigers in game one of a doubleheader. Connecticut took game two in a 3-2 IronBirds loss.

BIG MOMENTS

How we got here: The game started on July 2nd, and Connecticut led 3-1 when it was postponed due to rain after two innings. On July 18th the game was resumed and Aberdeen tied it 3-3. It was postponed again in the 7th inning and that's how Thursday night began.

Watson Called Game: The game ended up being really simple. Zach Watson stepped up in the bottom of the 9th with a 3-3 tie. He hit a leadoff homer and won the game 4-3.

GAME TWO

BIG MOMENTS

2nd inning: Aberdeen would get all of their runs on a two out, two RBI double for Trey Truitt. He made it 2-0

4th inning: Connecticut scored three runs, all three were not earned. They loaded the bases with one out, two runs scored when Hector Martinez reached on an error. Another scored on a groundout and made it 3-2.

Aberdeen has now split their second doubleheader of the season

Through 32 games, Aberdeen is 18-14, hanging on to second place in the division.
