
Crosscutters lose third straight game

The Williamsport Crosscutters lost their third straight game to the Auburn Doubledays Friday night, falling to 5-14 on the road after being defeated 5-3 at Falcon Park.
The Cutters opened the scoring in the top of the fourth, using a sac fly by Maikel Franco and an RBI double by Harold Martinez to make it a 2-0 game.
The Doubledays sent 10 men to the plate to in the bottom of the fourth, plating four runs on three hits and taking advantage of a Cutters defensive error to go up 4-2. The Cutters inched closer in the top of the sixth on another RBI single by Franco to trim Auburn's lead to 4-3.
Auburn found some breathing room in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to right by Jeremy Mayo to increase their lead to 5-3. That score would be the final, as relievers Taylor Hill and Greg Holt combined to shut out the visitors over the final three-plus innings.
With the win, Auburn improved to 5-5 against Williamsport to finish the season series between the two teams. The Cutters now travel to Connecticut for three games against the Tigers from July 23-25.
