HICKORY, NC - The Crawdads are coming off a series win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers, taking the matchup 3-games-to-2. The series win included a doubleheader sweep on Saturday and a 6-3 win on Sunday as well.
The Crawdads are currently 10-9 to begin the second half of the 2010 season, putting them in a tie for second place in the Northern Division with the Grasshoppers, 2.5 games behind the Lakewood BlueClaws for first. Hickory remains second in the overall standings at 50-39.

Tuesday, July 6
DELMARVA 3 vs. Hickory 1
1B Mike Ortiz hit his second homer in as many days for Hickory, but the Shorebirds had a home run of their own, winning 3-1. RHP Johan Yan and RHP Sam Brown pitched a combined 4.1 scoreless frames of relief.
Wednesday, July 7
DELMARVA 2 vs. Hickory 1
RHP Jake Brigham allowed just the one run on three hits and two walks while fanning four in six innings pitched for Hickory. The 'Dads tied the game at one in the seventh, but Delmarva scored the winning run in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk, accounting for the 2-1 Shorebirds win.
Thursday, July 8
Greensboro 7 vs. HICKORY 3
The 'Dads offense was led by CF Jared Bolden, who had four hits and an RBI on the night. Hickory attempted a two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth,, when RF Jared Prince hit an RBI double with the bases loaded, but the 'Dads fell short, 7-3.

HICKORY 7 vs. Greensboro 6, Doubleheader Game 1 (11 innings)
With Greensboro up, 5-4, heading into the bottom of the seventh inning (the final regulation frame in a doublheader game), 2B Travis Adair tripled and came in to score on a sacrifice fly to center by DH Joe Bonadonna to tie the game and force extra innings. With the Grasshoppers up again, 6-5, in the 11th inning, CF/1B Jared Bolden smacked a bases loaded single, allowing 1B Mike Ortiz and Adair to score and hand the 'Dads a dramatic 7-6 walkoff victory in game one.
Saturday, July 10
HICKORY 4 vs. Greensboro 0, Doubleheader Game 2 (7 innings)
Crawdads starter RHP Braden Tullis and relievers RHP Ovispo De Los Santos and RHP Tyler Tufts combined to hurl the 'Dads 12th shutout of the season and fifth of the second half. CF Jared Bolden hit a two-run homer in the first inning and the Crawdads never looked back.
Sunday, July 11
HICKORY 6 vs. Greensboro 3
C Zach Zaneski hit his third home run of the season and RF Jared Prince went 2-for-4 with a two-run double. RHP Tyler Tufts dealt a scoreless ninth frame for his first save of the season with the Crawdads.
Monday, July 12
Greensboro 9 vs. HICKORY 3
The Grasshoppers offense was powered by three home runs, including two from 3B Chase Austin. C Zach Zaneski led the Crawdads at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
PAIR OF PITCHERS PROMOTED TO BAKERSFIELD
Crawdads All-Star pitchers LHP Robbie Ross and RHP Trevor Hurley were promoted by the Texas Rangers to High-A Bakersfield of the California League last Friday.
Ross, 21, was 8-7 with a 2.59 ERA through 16 starts with Hickory. He led the team in wins and innings pitched. On July 22, Ross was the starting pitcher 2010 South Atlantic League All-Star Game in Greenville, South Carolina. In the All-Star Game, he struck out the side in the first inning.
Hurley, 22, was 0-1 with a 1.43 ERA and 11 saves through 26 appearances with Hickory. He had the lowest batting average against and allowed the fewest baserunners per nine innings of any pitcher in the South Atlantic League. Hurley pitched a 1-2-3 seventh frame in All-Star Game.

~LHP Robbie Ross and RHP Trevor Hurley became the 5th and 6th Crawdads pitchers to be promoted by the Rangers this season
~The Crawdads 12 shutout wins this season are the most in the South Atlantic League

~Since moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation, RHP Braden Tullis is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA in three starts
~Hickory relievers have recorded a league-leading 29 saves on the season

~They own the third-lowest ERA (3.35) and WHIP (1.23) and have allowed the fewest walks (213) in the league
