Tonight: The first-half champion Gnats look to rebound from a disappointing Monday night to open a five-game series and five-game homestand against the Greenville Drive, the Boston Red Sox SAL affiliate.

Monday Night: Twice on Monday, the Gnats took two-run leads to the bottom of the ninth inning, and twice, the Asheville Tourists scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth for comeback wins. The first game was the completion of Sunday's game, which was suspended by rain with Savannah leading 3-2 in the eighth inning. Asheville came back to win the first game 5-4, and the regularly scheduled game 4-3.

Now Pitching: Darin Gorski is scheduled to make his ninth start for the Gnats tonight. Gorski held Rome to two runs in five innings in his last start, despite yielding eight hits, three walks and hitting a batter in a game the Gnats won 6-2. Since returning to the rotation at the All-Star Break, Gorski is 1-2 in three starts with a 6.92 ERA (10 ER/13 IP). He's given up four home runs while yielding a .370 (20 H/54 AB) opponents' batting average in his last three starts.

Last year for the Brooklyn Cyclones, Gorski was 3-4 with a 4.91 ERA in 62.1 innings over 13 appearances, 11 of which were starts. He struck out 50 batters and walked 26. The Mets selected Gorski in the 7th round of the 2009 draft out of Kutztown (PA) University where he earned the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Pitcher of the Year Award in 2009, his junior year. In 2009, Gorski led the Kutztown Golden Bears in strikeouts (100), innings pitched (78.2) and batting average against (.208). He was 10th in Division II in strikeouts.

Marte's Mashing: Jefry Marte rides an eight-game hitting streak, over which time he is 15-for-32 (.469) with four doubles, a triple, two home runs, three walks, one strikeout and 10 RBI. He has multiple hits in six of his last eight contests. It is Marte's third eight-game hitting streak this year. In 12 games in July, Marte is hitting .354/.404/.667 (AVG/OBP/SLG). Marte, with six home runs in 74 games, has tied a career-high he set last year when he clubbed six home runs in 123 games.

Tremendous Travis: Travis Ozga had a big series against the Asheville Tourists. He was 8-for-21 (.381) with a double, a home run and 11 RBI. The Mets' 41st round pick in 2009 out of Florida Atlantic, Ozga is hitting .373/.421/.549 in 16 games with Savannah.

Hammerin' Harris: R.J. Harris, who joined the Gnats over the All-Star Break, has hit safely in seven straight games over which time he is 9-30 (.300) with three doubles, a home run, two RBI, three walks and six strikeouts. The Mets drafted Harris in the 14th round of the 2009 draft out of Northwood (TX) University.

Pitching and Defense: The Gnats lead the SAL with a 2.65 ERA and 764 strikeouts. Lakewood (3.34 ERA) is 0.61 runs worse than the Gnats. Savannah has allowed just 306 runs overall, 57 fewer than Hickory (363), which has allowed the second-fewest runs in the league. Only five teams in the SAL have allowed fewer than 400 runs. Hagerstown has yielded the most runs at 447.

Vs. Greenville: The Gnats are 2-3 against the Drive this year. Tonight is the opener of the second and final five-game series between the two teams this season. Savannah is 18-19 against the Drive since becoming a Mets affiliate before the 2007 season.

Playoffs: By virtue of winning the first half, the Gnats will have home-field advantage in the Southern Division Championship Series. The second half winner will host game one on Wednesday, September 8. The series return to Savannah for game two on Friday, September 10 and game three, if necessary, on Saturday, September 11.
