HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Lexington Legends, 12-4, before 3,737 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. RF Jared Prince led the 'Dads offense with a home run and a double, driving in two runs and scoring two as well.

The Crawdads (35-25) got out to a quick start against Lexington starter RHP Juan Minaya (1-7, 5.25 ERA), scoring a run in the first on an RBI single by CF Miguel Velazquez after Prince doubled his way on. The 'Dads doubled their lead in the third on a run-scoring single by LF Ed Koncel, for a 2-0 advantage through three innings.

After retiring the first 12 batters he faced, RHP Matt Thompson (4-4, 3.88 ERA) relinquished the Legends (30-30) first hit of the game to RF J.D. Martinez, who led off the top of the fifth with a double to left. Thompson proceeded to retire the next three batters in order, getting out of the inning unscathed.

Lexington took a 3-2 lead in the sixth, scoring three runs, including two on a homer by 2B Jose Altuve. They proceeded to score four more runs in the seventh to extend their lead, 7-2.

Hickory pulled to within four on a leadoff homer by Prince in the bottom of the eighth, to make it 7-3. However, the Legends answered back with five runs in the ninth to expand their advantage to 12-3.

Hickory put together a one-out rally in the bottom of the ninth against Legends closer RHP Arcenio Leon. C Zach Zaneski began the rally with a walk and moved to second on an infield single by 2B Edwin Garcia. SS Leury Garcia followed by reaching safely on a fielding error by Lexington SS Jiovanni Mier to load the bases. Leon then walked Prince to drive home Zaneski, but then settled down with back-to-back strikeouts to close the Legends win, 12-4.

Minaya recorded the win for Lexington, with Thompson taking the loss for Hickory.
