Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, NE - For the tenth consecutive season, Cox Communications is sponsoring Home Run for Youth Day at Rosenblatt Stadium. Nearly 11,000 students are receiving a ticket to attend the Omaha Royals game vs. the Albuquerque Isotopes on Monday, April 20, at 11:05 a.m.
All K-12 students in Cox's service area have been invited. 70 schools have signed up to attend the event.
"Cox's Home Run for Youth Day has become a tradition for a number of local schools," said Cox's community relations specialist Kelly Sare. "It's not only a fun time - out of the classroom - for the students, but also an educational experience on America's favorite pastime."
Participating schools are provided with study guides so they can incorporate learning into the field trip if they choose. Cox has also invited community partner, Bullying Awareness & Prevention Alliance, to be at the stadium to hand out anti-bullying materials during the game.
New this year is Cox's biggest fan photo contest. The winning classroom will receive priority seating at the game, free lunch and special giveaway items.
"We are excited that the partnership with Cox Communications is reaching so many students in the metro area," said Royals Vice President/General Manager Martie Cordaro. "We hope that their day at the ballpark will continue on into the classroom and that the children and teachers will be able to use baseball as an educational tool."
Preceding the first pitch of the game, students from Good Shepherd Lutheran School will sing the National Anthem. One student chosen from the winning "biggest fan photo" classroom will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
The Omaha Royals 2009 home opener at Rosenblatt Stadium is set for Friday, April 17th, with a 7:05 p.m. game vs. Albuquerque. For tickets, call (402) 738-5100, or order and print tickets online at www.oroyals.com.
