Kalamazoo, Mich - Goaltender Marco Cousineau, making his first start since Dec. 10, made 35 saves as the Elmira Jackals (15-10-5-0) held off the Kalamazoo Wings (13-14-1-2) for a 3-1 win at Wings Stadium on Saturday night.

The Jackals and the K-Wings fought through two periods with no score, with Cousineau stopping 19 shots through 40 minutes and Kalamazoo goaltender Riley Gill making 25 saves on 25 shots.

In the third period, Justin Donati found Tyler Donati in the slot, with T. Donati's shot rolling off of Gill and into the net to give the Jackals the game's first goal at 4:20.

A minute and a half later, Eric Lampe picked off a Steven Tarasuk pass at center ice, roared past Jon Landry in the K-Wings' end, and then backhanded the puck past Gill at 5:59 to extend the lead to 2-0. The goal proved to be Lampe's third game-winning goal of the season, putting him into a tie for the team lead.

At 15:51, Aaron Clarke scored his second short-handed goal in as many nights, flipping a puck from the slot over Cousineau's glove to bring Kalamazoo to within one.

Corey Cowick was able to force the puck out of the Jackals' defensive end with Gill pulled late in the game and Kalamazoo pressuring Elmira, battle his way to the left circle and drive the puck into the net to seal the game, 3-1, at 18:56. Cowick now has goals in three-straight games, the first three tallies of his professional career.

Cousineau upped his record to 9-5-4-0 with the 35 save performance, while Gill's record dropped to 7-5-0-0, stopping 28 shots.

The win was Elmira's first against Kalamazoo since the K-Wings joined the ECHL and the Jackals' 10th all-time in 34 total meetings when factoring in UHL play.

Elmira returns home to First Arena for games on Friday and Saturday against Kalamazoo before finishing off the weekend on Sunday at home against Reading. For tickets, call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), visit the First Arena Box Office, or log onto JackalsHockey.com.
