Steelheads Fall to Condors, 3-1

BOISE, ID- The Idaho Steelheads (13-13-7) gave up two goals in the first six minutes and fell 3-1 to the Bakersfield Condors (16-14-1) at Qwest Arena; one night after falling in a shootout to the Condors. Matt Tassone scored the only goal for Idaho, who is 2-7-2 in their last 11 games.

Brad Snetsinger collected a puck deep in the Idaho zone after an effective forecheck and found an open Bobby Robins in front of the net, which led to Robins one-timing a puck into the Steelheads goal to give the Condors a 1-0 lead at the 2:07 mark of the first period.

J.D. Corbin scored on a wrist shot from the slot for the Condors at 5:23 of the first period to give Bakersfield a 2-0 lead and signal the end of the evening for Idaho's starting netminder, Mike Zacharias. Jase Weslosky relieved Zacharias.

At 4:29 of the second period, Matt Tassone scored the only goal of the night for Idaho on a turnaround wrist shot from the right circle; John Swanson assisted on the goal.

Snetsinger regained a two-goal lead for Bakersfield when he scored on a wrist shot from the top of the circle at 0:52 of the third period to make the score 3-1, which is how the game would end.

Zacharias suffers the loss; he surrendered two goals on seven shots against in 5:23 of work. Weslosky stopped 21 of 22 shots in 53:42 of game action. Josh Tordjman turned away 24 of 25 shots for the Condors; he is now 12-9-1.

The Steelheads are in action next on January 4th and 5th when they host the Mountain Division-leading Utah Grizzlies. Both games start at 7:10 PM. Idaho will have another shot at Bakersfield when they head to Rabobank Arena, home of the Condors, on January 7th and 8th.
