IHL 2 Kalamazoo Wings

Countdown to Face-Off

Published on January 21, 2006 under International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Tonight will be a battle of intra-state rivals and the two top teams in the Central Division, when the Kalamazoo Wings host the Muskegon Fury. The teams have split their four previous meetings this season, with each team winning one game on both home and road ice.

Kalamazoo knows tonight's game is a big one. The K-Wings, who started 2006 tied with the Fury for the top spot in the division, now finds themselves trailing Muskegon by five points for the top spot in the Central Division.

The main reason for the separation between the teams has been Muskegon's most recent stretch of success. The Fury come into Wings Stadium on an eight-game winning streak. The eight-game winning streak is the longest current winning streak in the league.

"Turn"ing it Up

With an assist in last night's game against Fort Wayne, forward Tim Turner recorded his 108th point as a K-Wing, which ties him with Tyler Willis for 6th place on the K-Wings UHL All-Time Point list. Also with four minutes in penalties last night, Turner moved into a tie with former K-Wing Craig Bilick (2001-03) for 8th place in K-Wings UHL history for penalty minutes with 225.
