Danbury Trashers News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY--Mike Berry and Scott Drevitch netted late 3rd period goals to overcome a 3-2 deficit as the Adirondack Frostbite topped the Danbury Trashers 4-3 on Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
The two clubs traded goals over the first two periods, as Danbury's Drew Omicioli and Adirondack's Kevin Watters each had a pair of power play goals to keep the score at 2-2 by the end of the second.
Troy Smith scored his second of the season as he took a pass from Ryan Barnes and beat Derek Gustafson at 4:29 to give Danbury a 3-2 lead. However, Danbury turned over the puck behind the goal and it quickly translated into Mike Berry's 16th of the season at 11:53 to tie the game.
40-year-old defenseman Scott Drevitch then won the game with his 6th of the season at 15:07 as he took a sharp angle shot that just got by Sly Daigle to give Adirondack a 4-3 lead.
Daigle stopped 29 of 33 shots as Danbury's five game winning streak ended, while Gustafson saved 30 of 33 to give the Frostbite their first win of 2006. Adirondack is 1-3-2 in January. The win was also Adirondack's first over Danbury in seven meetings. The Trashers have a nine point lead over the Frostbite in the UHL East.
The Trashers return home on Sunday January 22nd at 7:00pm against Adirondack. Sunday's game is also NASCAR Theme Jersey Night as a silent auction will be held for the game-worn jersey from the game. Fans also interested in bypassing the auction process can order the jerseys at a special "Buy it Now" price. More information is available at DanburyTrashers.com.
