Game Preview

Tonight will be the second and final meeting of the regular season between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Gwinnett Gladiators. Both encounters this season have occurred at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo defeated Gwinnett 4-1 back on December 10th.

After finishing off a season-long five-game road swing with a 2-0 victory over the Florida Everblades, the Kalamazoo Wings will return home to battle the Gwinnett Gladiators. Tonight starts a four-game home stand for the K-Wings, who will play all four of those games this week.

While the K-Wings are returning home, the Gladiators are heading on the road. This evening starts an eight-game road trip for Gwinnett. The Gladiators come into this contest trying to get back on track. Gwinnett hits the ice looking to snap a five-game losing streak.

Moving on Up

Defenseman Sam Ftorek is close to moving up the K-Wings all-time list of assist leaders. Ftorek needs one more assist (187) to pass Kevin Evans (1985-91) for 8th place all-time in team history.

Roster Moves

Earlier today defenseman Jeremie Blain was recalled to the AHL's Utica Comets. In separate transactions, defenseman Jake Chelios was loaned to Kalamazoo from the AHL's Chicago Wolves and the team has also signed blue-liner Travis Armstrong to an amateur tryout agreement.

Home Sweet Home

After five straight on the road the K-Wings will begin a four-game home stand on Wednesday. On the season, the K-Wings are 11-10-1-1 at Wings Stadium.

Shutting the Door

Joel Martin earned his third shutout of the season by stopping 36 saves last Saturday. Martin now has 17 shutouts in a K-Wings uniform, including seven since Kalamazoo has been in the ECHL.

Putting Up Shots

The Gladiators are averaging 26.56 shots per game. Gwinnett has posted the second fewest shots in the league and least amount of shots in the Eastern Conference.

Good After One

So far this season the Gladiators have been a tough team to beat when they hold a lead entering the second period. Gwinnett is 11-4-2-0 when leading after the first period.

On the Road Again Tonight starts an eight-game road swing for Gwinnett. On the season, the Gladiators are 5-14-0-1 away from The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
