PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the signing of 2001-born forward Tyson Upper to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

The Calgary, Alberta, native was listed to the Cougars' 50-man protected player list this summer.

"Tyson was a standout at Training Camp and we're thrilled to have him join our organization," stated General Manager Mark Lamb. "He's young, a late 2001 birthdate, with great speed and high level offensive instincts. He's the type of player the game is trending towards."

Upper spent the last four years the Edge School for Athletes in Calgary, playing at the Bantam, Elite 15 and Midget levels in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). Last season, with Edge's Midget Prep team, Upper finished third in team scoring with 29 points (11-18-29) in 33 games. Two seasons ago, at the Elite 15 level, he was second in team scoring with 34 points (14-20-34) in 27 games.

He also helped Team Calgary South win the 2016 Alberta Cup. Upper averaged a point-per game, collecting three goals and five points.
