Cougars Roll to 4th Straight Win, 7-2 Over Kelowna

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars collected their fourth consecutive win with a 7-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets, Wednesday at the CN Centre.

Tyler Brennan posted his eleventh win of the season, making 15 saves on 17 Kelowna shots. Chase Wheatcroft, once again, led the way for the Cougars with two goals and an assist in the win.

The Cougars got the scoring started with a pair of power-play goals from Koehn Ziemmer and Hudson Thornton. The goals came 26 seconds apart to get the home team ahead 2-0 after one.

In the second, the Cougars added to their lead when Chase Wheatcroft wired one by Jari Kykkanen. Wheatcroft's 31st of the season made it 3-0 just over halfway into the period. Ethan Mittelsteadt got Kelowna on the board, however, the Cougars responded four minutes later, with Zac Funk tipping in his 17th of the season. The period concluded with Viliam Kmec bailing out Tyler Brennan to make a huge save in the final moments to keep it 4-1.

.In the third, Kelowna cut into lead, courtesy of Gabriel Szturc, but the Cats got it back 22 seconds later when Chase Wheatcroft scored his second of the game to make it 6-2. Cayden Glover supplied the finishing touches with his 2nd of the season in the final moments to seal a 7-2 victory.
