Winnipeg ICE forward Connor McClennon scored three goals to lead his team to a 7-6 victory over the Calgary Hitmen Thursday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.

McClennon's second hat-trick of the season gave him 126 career goals moving him into second place for ICE franchise goals, two up on former Captain and Memorial Cup Champion Jarret Stoll who scored 124 goals in 245 WHL games. Winnipeg product Nigel Dawes holds the franchise record of 159.

Carson Latimer, Matthew Savoie, Zack Ostapchuk and Owen Pederson also scored as the ICE erased deficits of 3-1 and 5-3 throughout the night.

The win improved Winnipeg's record to a league best 39-7-1, expanding their lead to five points over Red Deer atop of the WHL's Eastern Conference standings.

Oliver Tulk replied with a pair of goals for Calgary, who are now winless in three games versus the ICE this season. Riley Fiddler-Schultz, Tomis Marinkovic and Ethan Moore rounded out the scoring. Their record fell to 23-21-5-2.

Winnipeg outshot the Hitmen 41-33. McClennon and Zach Benson led all players, each with seven shots.

Daniel Hauser earned the victory in goal making 20 saves in relief of Mason Beaupit, who allowed the first four goals of the game. Brayden Peters suffered the loss.

The ICE are back in action Saturday night at 8:00 at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings for the first time this season.
