Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver, B.C. - Playing their third game in as many days, the Vancouver Giants dropped a 6-5 decision to the Prince George Cougars on Sunday afternoon at the Pacific Coliseum. The Giants got their goals from Dylan Plouffe, Alec Baer, Chase Lang, Tyler Benson and Ty Ronning.

The Cougars got out to a hot start, scoring twice on their first three shots, with goals from Justin Almeida and Chase Witala. After the second goal, Giants goaltender Ryan Kubic was replaced by 16-year-old David Tendeck, appearing in his first WHL game. The G-Men got within a goal before the end of the first, as Plouffe scored from the point.

Early in the middle stanza, Baer tied the game at 2-2 for the G-Men, scoring his sixth of the year off the wing. Witala scored on the power play to restore the Cougar lead, but minutes later, Lang rippled the mesh to pull the Giants back onto even footing again. Benson gave Vancouver its first lead of the hockey game when he found the net on a rebound, but the Cougars tied the game late in the period as Witala completed the hat trick to once again tie the game.

Joseph Carvalho and Jansen Harkins scored third period goals to put Prince George ahead 6-4. The G-Men got within one late in the frame when Ronning scored his team leading 18th of the season, but Vancouver could not find the game-tying goal.

David Tendeck made 20 saves on 24 shots in relief of Ryan Kubic.

The Giants' next game is Friday, December 11th, when they host the Victoria Royals on Ugly Christmas Sweater Night. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
