
Cougars Beat Bees, 7-3

GENEVA, IL (July 11) - The Kane County Cougars (13-5) scored seven runs on 11 hits to earn a 7-3 win over the Burlington Bees (6-12) before 5,252 fans at Elfstrom Stadium on Monday night to complete a three-game sweep.
The Bees scored a single run in the first inning against Kane County RHP Leonel Santiago (7-6). 2B Nino Leyja (1-3) singled and stole both second and third base. 3B Tony Thompson (1-4) grounded out to second base to score Leyja for a 1-0 Burlington lead.
The Cougars scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-1 lead. 3B Cheslor Cuthbert (3-4) singled and moved to second base on a single by RF Geulin Beltre (1-4). Cuthbert scored on a throwing error by right fielder Josh Whitaker. C Kevin David (2-4) added an RBI single to score Beltre.
Kane County added two runs in the third inning on a two-run home run by CF Brett Eibner (2-4) to take a 4-1 lead.
Burlington scored two runs all thanks to clutch two-out hitting in the fourth inning. DH Yordy Cabrera (1-4) hit a home run and LF Royce Consigli (1-3), SS Ryan Pineda (1-4) and C Beau Taylor (2-4) all singling to load the bases. CF Jose Crisotomo (1-5) reached on an error to score Consigli and make it 4-3.
The Cougars added a run on an error in the fourth inning and scored two in the seventh inning to take a 7-3 lead.
After an off-day on Tuesday, the Bees begin a three-game series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, the Midwest League affiliate of the San Diego Padres on Wednesday at 6:30. It's "Kids Eat Free Wednesday" with kids 12 and under getting a hot dog and drink voucher at the game. LHP Mark Hardy (5-7, 2.63) gets the start for the TinCaps against RHP Blake Hassebrock (4-5, 2.18) for the Bees.
