Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

Bandit starter Anthony Ferrara (8-4) flexed his pitching muscles on Monday night, allowing just two hits and striking out four Timber Rattlers batters through seven innings of work. Despite walking a season-high five batters in the game, Ferrara picked up the win as the Bandits bested Wisconsin 4-1 in front of 1,786 fans at Modern Woodmen Park. The Bandits have now won five in a row and are also 18-1 when scoring first at home.

Offensively, the Bandits opened up the scoring in the first inning when Cody Stanley (2-for-4) hit a two-run double, scoring Michael Swinson (1-for-3, 2 R) and Oscar Taveras (2-for-3).

The Bandits scored again in third when Taveras singled home Swinson, and again tallied a run in the sixth when Ronny Gil (0-for-4) hit a sacrifice fly scoring Chris Edmondson (1-for-3).

Aiden Lucas came in to close out the game for the Bandits in the ninth. Lucas went one scoreless inning and allowed one hit while striking out one to earn his sixth save of the season.

Wisconsin starter Del Howell (1-5) took the loss after he allowed three runs on five hits. He walked three and struck out three over just three innings.

The Bandits are off on Tuesday, before beginning a three-game home series with the Dayton Dragons on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park on Modern Woodmen Half-Price Night. All tickets are half-off and the first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a free Bandits cap courtesy of Modern Woodmen of America. Gates will open at 5:30.
