Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
DAVENPORT, IA - The Quad Cities River Bandits returned the favor to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. Wisconsin swept a three-game series from the River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park back in May. The Bandits defeated the Rattlers 4-1 on Monday night to complete a three-game sweep of Wisconsin. Anthony Ferrara allowed one run over six innings to get his sixth win of the season. Ferrara and two relievers combined to hold the Rattlers to four hits in the game.
Rattlers starting pitcher Del Howell recorded the first two outs in the bottom of the first inning. But, a walk, a double, and another walk loaded the bases for the River Bandits (50-37 overall, 10-8 second half). Cody Stanley stepped up and drove in a pair of runs with a single for a 2-0 lead. This marks the eighth straight game in which the Rattlers opponent has scored first.
Wisconsin (46-42, 8-10) loaded the bases with no outs on a walk and a pair of hits in the top of the second against Ferrara. Mike Brownstein grounded into a 4-6-3 double play to score the Rattlers first run. That was the only run the Rattlers would score in the inning. Also, the Rattlers wouldn't get another hit until the eighth inning.
Quad Cities added to their lead in the third inning. Michael Swinson doubled to start the inning. Oscar Taveras followed with a sharp single to left. Swinson was held at third, until the ball was bobbled for an error. Swinson scored on the play to give the River Bandits a 3-1 lead.
The River Bandits loaded the bases with no outs against Dan Britt on a pair of walks and a single. Ronny Gil's sacrifice fly to center got a run home for a 4-1 Quad Cities advantage.
Cody Hawn started the ninth inning with a single to extend his current hitting streak to 12 games. But, the Rattlers could do nothing with the single and dropped their fourth straight game.
Wisconsin is off on Tuesday night before returning to action on Wednesday night at Time Warner Cable Field. The Rattlers start a three game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps at 7:05pm. Matt Miller (3-4, 4.89) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. The Whitecaps have named Kevin Eichhorn (7-3, 3.46) as their starter.
Wednesday is a bonus Bang for Your Buck Night with Pepsi products, Cher-Make hot dogs, and Miller Beer available for $1. American TV Win-It Wednesday means that every fan aged 16 and older will receive a scratch-off ticket and every ticket is a winner with prizes from the Timber Rattlers and American TV of Appleton.
