PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars, in collaboration with Lheidli T'enneh First Nation and Four River Co-op, proudly unveils the details for their annual Indigenous Night, scheduled for Saturday, January 20th, against the Portland Winterhawks at 6:00 pm at the CN Centre.

Chief Dolleen Logan of Lheidli T'enneh First Nation expressed excitement about the longstanding relationship between the nation and the PG Cougars. "Our nation has enjoyed an incredible relationship with the PG Cougars since 2021," said Chief Logan. She highlighted the significant efforts made by the Cougars to acknowledge and respect the families and communities affected by the Kamloops Residential School. The partnership has evolved into a commitment to the Road to Reconciliation, with Elder Clifford Quaw sharing his experiences as a survivor of the Lejac Residential School. The Cougars' commitment to understanding the 'Truth' about 'Truth and Reconciliation' culminates in the 2nd Annual Indigenous Hockey Night on January 20 at CN Centre.

To mark this special occasion, the team will don jerseys specially designed by Lheidli T'enneh artist Kym Gouchie. The evening promises drum and dance performances throughout each intermission and the concourse, along with a guaranteed $20,000 jackpot. The specialty jerseys will be worn on January 20th and will be available for auction from January 19th at 5:00 pm until Saturday, January 28th at midnight. Following the game, there will be player autograph signings in the concourse at CN Centre.

"I am honoured on behalf of our players, coaches, staff, and fans to make this pledge of Respectful Acknowledgement to Chief Logan and her nation," stated Director of Business Taylor Dakers. The commitment underscores the Cougars' recognition of their presence on the unceded territory of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation. Dakers emphasized the importance of fostering a welcoming environment for Indigenous communities and hockey fans, aligning with the club's responsibility to not only develop players on the ice but also as informed citizens.

Tickets for the January 20th game are available.
