El Paso Diablos News Release

El Paso, TX- It was a close game before the Diablos gave up costly late inning runs to the Sioux Falls Canaries, which was too much for the Diablos to overcome eventually losing 7-3.

From the start of the game both teams displayed great pitching through three innings of play, with no runs being scored by each team, starting pitcher Michael Joyce was excellent going 5.0 innings, only giving up three hits before he had to leave the game with a shoulder injury.

The Diablos struck for the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning, thanks to a wild pitch from the Canaries. Things stayed close for the next three innings, by the end of the seventh inning the game was tied at 2-2. The eighth inning was the big blow to the Diablos, giving up five runs to put the Canaries up 7-2. The Diablos kept fighting as always scoring one run in the eighth inning, before a quiet ninth inning, which led to a 7-3 Diablos loss. Second baseman Jose Garcia was great for the Diablos in the loss, going three for four with one RBI.

The series between the Diablos and Canaries is now tied at 1-1, with two more games to go in the four game series. The Diablos play tomorrow night; 7:05 here at Cohen Stadium!
