San Antonio Missions News Release
San Antonio - The San Diego Padres have announced that left-hander Cory Luebke will make the first of three expected rehab outings Tuesday night as San Antonio resumes its five-game series with the Corpus Christi Hooks at Whataburger Field.
Luebke, who made three, one-inning rehab appearances for High-A Lake Elsinore, will throw an inning tonight for the Missions behind starter, and TL ERA leader, Colin Rea (1-2, 1.18).
The 30-year-old hurler has missed over two and a half seasons recovering from two separate Tommy John surgeries, with the most recent being performed by Dr. James Andrews on February 18, 2014. He went 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA in five starts for San Diego in 2012 before landing on the DL in early May.
The Maria Stein, OH native pitched in 19 games (17 starts) for San Antonio during the 2009-2010 seasons, going 8-3 with a 2.97 ERA.
Luebke allowed just one run during his rehab stint with the Storm.
San Diego selected Luebke in the 1st round (63rd pick) of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Ohio State University.
Tuesday night's contest in Corpus Christi marks the beginning of the season's second half.
