Normal CornBelters News Release

WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, ended a two-week road trip with a 5-0 loss to the Washington Wild Things on Sunday night at CONSOL Energy Park.

The Wild Things scored first thanks to a leadoff walk and a throwing error from Belters pitcher Tyler Stovall led to an unearned run, giving Washington a 1-0 lead after two innings. Washington added a run with their first hit, a solo home run by Rick Devereaux just over the right field wall.

Washington added a run in the fourth when the first two hitters singled, and one scored on a double play to increase the hosts' lead to 3-0.

The Wild Things made it 5-0 in the seventh on a misplayed ball in right field and a wild pitch to score one run, followed by an RBI double.

Gary Lee (1-2) picked up the win while Tyler Stovall (1-3) was saddled with the loss. The CornBelters fall to 5-14 as the Wild Things improve to 9-11.

The CornBelters begin a six-game homestand on Monday with three games each against the Evansville Otters and the Gateway Grizzlies. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. each night and gates open an hour before game time. Monday's game against the Otters begins Ag Week at the Corn Crib with Illinois Corn Growers Association Night.
