
Condors Succumb to Stockton Despite 56-Shot Effort

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder (22-18-1-3, 48pts) received a 55-save effort from G Olivier Roy, and took down the Bakersfield Condors (10-30-4-1, 25pts) 4-1 at Rabobank Arena Wednesday night.
The Condors had plenty of chances in the opening period, but were continuously denied by Roy, who stopped 19 shots in the frame. Stockton scored the lone goal of the period, with C Chris D'Alvise chipping in a tally at 10:14 off a broken play to take the lead.
Stockton blew the game open in the middle frame, scoring on two of their first three shots of the period, and adding a power play goal later in the period. Bakersfield posted 19 shots on goal again in the second, but F Chris Doyle scored twice and RW Kevin Baker added his team-leading 20th of the season.
Bakersfield finally got on the board with a power play goal by LW Jesse Gimblett at 3:46 of the frame. Bakersfield added another 17 shots in the period, but Roy stood strong, finishing with 55 saves on the night.
Condors Droppings:
F Peter Boyd returned to the lineup after missing eight games to injury... Tonight was the 10th time this season the Condors have passed 40 shots... Bakersfield's 56 shots was a season-high and came up just four shots shy of the team record... G Matt Keetley picked up his second assist of the season... D Tyson Gimblett served his one-game suspension tonight... Shots on goal: BAK- 56, STK- 28... PP: BAK 1/4, STK 1/3... Three Stars: 1. Roy (STK), 2. Doyle (STK), 3. J. Gimblett (BAK).
