Greenville's Bowers Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Justin Bowers of the Greenville Road Warriors is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Bowers scored 10 goals and added 18 assists for 28 points in 15 games during the month.

The 26-year-old scored at least one point in 13 of his 15 games during January, including 10 multi-point games. He opened the month with three points (2g-1a) in a 4-2 win at Chicago on Jan. 1, and closed the month with three consecutive three-point games at Florida, on his way to being named ECHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30. Bowers closed the month on a six-game scoring streak (6g-9a), tallying at least two points in each of his last five games.

Bowers leads the Road Warriors, and is tied for second in the ECHL, with 57 points (14g-43a) in 44 games. He leads the league with 43 assists, 20 power-play assists and 24 power-play points.

A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Bowers has 154 points (45g-109a) in 132 career ECHL games with Dayton and Greenville. He also has 20 points (9g-11a) in 55 career American Hockey League games with Lake Erie, Quad City, Abbotsford and Portland.

Runners Up: Dustin Gazley, Elmira (11 gp, 6g, 11a, 17 pts.), Eric Lampe, Las Vegas (12 gp, 8g, 11a, 19 pts.) and Pierre-Luc O'Brien, South Carolina (13 gp, 8g, 6a, 14 pts.).

Also Nominated: Tyler Donati (Chicago), Nikita Kashirsky (Gwinnett), Jacob Cepis (Idaho), Trent Daavettila (Kalamazoo), Derek Couture (Ontario), Dale Mitchell (Reading), Jordan Fulton (Stockton), Andrej Nestrasil (Toledo) and Peter Lenes (Wheeling).
