
Condors start trip with 3-2 win over Aces

ANCHORAGE, Alaska. - The Bakersfield Condors started their five-game road trip with a 3-2 victory against the Alaska Aces before 3,347 fans at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage Wednesday night. D Kevin Truelson, making his season debut, registered a goal and an assist in the win.
A back-and-forth first period ended as it began, with the scoreboard showing zeroes on both sides heading into the first intermission. Alaska (13-6-1, 27pts) held a slight advantage in shots on goal over the Condors (7-9-3, 17pts), 9-6, through one.
Just 26 seconds after Aces LW Eric Felde opened the scoring at 4:01 in the second period, F Matt Pope set up F Dale Reinhardt with a pass from behind the Alaska net, which Reinhardt slapped home for his second goal in as many games. Midway through the period, Truelson struck with a one-timer on the power play to put Bakersfield in the 2-1 lead. However, with Alaska on the power play two minutes later, Felde netted his second of the period to tie the game for the Aces, 2-2. Shots on goal were tied, 18-18, after two frames.
The Condors broke the tie 6:51 into the third period, when F Andrew Ianiero scored the eventual game-winner after F Charlie Kronschnabel set him up in front for the one-timer. G Ryan Nie made 10 saves in the third period, and 26 overall, to keep the Condors lead intact for the 3-2 win. The Condors improved to 5-3-2 on the road this season and are 5-3-2 in their last 10 games overall.
Notes from the Nest: The Condors remain in the Great White North to continue their three-game series against the Alaska Aces on Friday and Saturday. Both games are slated to start at 8:15 p.m., and will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230, B2 Networks and Bakersfieldcondors.com.
The team returns to the Mercy & Memorial Hospitals Home Ice at Rabobank Arena on Saturday, Dec. 13 to host the Las Vegas Wranglers. Scooby-Doo, presented by Bright House Networks, 101.5 KGFM and Bakersfield Marriott, will be at the game to meet fans and pose for pictures in the Condors Photo Booth. Doors open at 11 a.m., the puck drops at noon.
