
Ontario's Murray Named Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ontario Reign rookie John
Murray is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender
of the Week for Nov. 24-30.
The 21 year old was 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.62 in three
starts to help the Reign remain in second place in the Pacific Division.
After making a career-high 42 saves in a 4-2 win at Stockton on Nov. 26,
Murray registered his first shootout win after making 21 saves in
regulation and overtime and then stopping all four shooters in the shootout
of a 2-1 victory against Bakersfield. He closed out the week making 23
saves in a 3-2 win against National Conference leader Alaska on Nov. 30.
Seeing extra playing time because of an injury to Jeff
Zatkoff, Murray has improved to 4-3-1 and lowered his goals-against
average to 2.49 while raising his save percentage to .922.
He played eight games for Reading in 2007-08 and was 3-3-1 with a shutout,
a goals-against average of 3.36 and a save percentage of .883. He was named

of the Week for Mar. 17-23 after stopping all 38 shots he faced to
record his first shutout with a 2-0 win at Elmira on Mar. 21 and then
turned aside 27 of 28 shots in a 3-1 win against Trenton on Mar. 22.
The native of Lancaster, Pa. played in the Ontario Hockey League in
2006-07 and 2007-08 and was 52-24-4 with five shutouts, a goals-against
average of 2.99 and a save percentage of .905 in 86 regular season games
for Kitchener and Kingston.
