Condors Hold on to Beat Reign
December 2, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, lost 5-4 to the Bakersfield Condors before 5,891 Reign faithful on Wednesday. Jeff Corey, Aaron Lewadniuk, David Walker, and Justin Taylor each accounted for two points.
The Condors started off the game by scoring two goals in the first period. Unfortunately for them, one was in their own net. A hard centering pass from the right circle by Corey deflected off of a Bakersfield defenseman's skate and into the net to tie the game at 1-1.
The Condors took a 3-1 lead in the second period on goals by Mark Magnowski and Stephane Goulet before Brett O'Malley one-timed a pass from Lewadniuk to cut it to a 3-2 difference.
The third period was a back-and-forth affair. The Condors re-established a two-goal lead, but Taylor banged home his first goal in a Reign sweater to cut the lead to one. Bakersfield pulled away again with a goal that put them up 5-3. Lewadniuk came right back and notched his fourth goal of the season to make it 5-4, Condors.
The Reign pulled the goaltender in the closing seconds, but was unable to tie it up. Kellen Briggs made 21 saves in the loss, while Peter Hirsch made 28 saves in the win.
Corey has a three-game point streak with one goal and four assists in those games.
Tonight's three stars were:
1) BAK - Mark Magnowski
2) ONT - Aaron Lewadniuk
3) ONT - David Walker
