Bakersfield Condors News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla., - Alexandre Bolduc scored twice and Joel Irving recorded a goal and two assists as the Bakersfield Condors snapped a seven game road losing streak, defeating the Pensacola Ice Pilots by a score of 5-1 at the Pensacola Civic Center.
Pensacola picked up the opening goal on a delayed Condors penalty. Bryson Busniuk found David Turon outside the circles, and Turon connected on the one-timer past Ryan Munce, giving the Ice Pilots the early 1-0 lead just under seven minutes after the opening faceoff.
The lead was short-lived as Joel Irving sent a pass from behind the net to Andrew Ianiero in the slot, who tapped the puck past the right arm of Matt Carmichael. The goal came just over a minute after the opening salvo to tie the game at 1-1 with 12:08 left in the first period.
Bakersfield went ahead late in the second as Alexandre Bolduc worked the puck along the boards from the top of the circle all the way behind the net, where Joel Irving took a pass and slid the puck under the right skate of Carmichael inside the post. Reagan Leslie also received an assist as the Condors took a 2-1 lead with 3:12 remaining in the second.
Alexandre Bolduc would kick off an explosive third period by following up on a rebound in the slot from a Joel Irving slapshot, tapping past Carmichael to put the Bakersfield up 3-1 eight minutes into the frame.
On the penalty kill, Ianiero led a short-handed two-on-one and found Bolduc once more. Bolduc misplayed the puck at first, but recovered on the goal lone away from the net and lifted a high backhand shot, which bounced over Carmichael's shoulder to extend the Condors' lead to 4-1 with under six minutes remaining in the game.
Kevin St. Jacques would stretch Bakersfield's advantage to four on a pass from Mike Hofstrand inside the circles and past Carmichael's blocker with just over two minutes remaining in the game, making it 5-1 Condors.
Ryan Munce provided a solid night in net after missing two games due to an ear infection. Munce earned the win after stopping 39 of Pensacola's 40 shots on goal. Matt Carmichael was credited with the loss, stopping 33 Condor shots on 38 attempts.
Other notes: The victory was the Condors' first road win since a 2-1 overtime win in Alaska on October 29th. When leading or tied after two periods, the Condors are 7-0-3 this season. The five Condor goals scored match the team's season high, set in the season opener against Victoria on October 22nd.
Bakersfield returns home on Friday, December 9th to host the Stockton Thunder on Nip & Puck Night. One lucky fan will win a personal makeover valued at over $8,000 courtesy of Dr. Shah & Associates, Bright House Networks, and La Preciosa 105.3/800AM.
