Titans Beat Bombers In OT Sunday Afternoon

Trenton, NJ - The Dayton Bombers dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Trenton Titans in front of 3,968 at the Sovereign Bank Arena Sunday afternoon. Following the game, Brett Nowak was recalled by the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch.

The Bombers opened a 1-0 lead when Brett Nowak scored his 2nd goal of the season at 13:25. Then, following a turnover in the Trenton zone, Scott Cameron fed Jeff Szwez who scored his team-leading 12th goal giving Dayton a 2-0 lead. With just 42 seconds remaining in the opening period, the Titans made it 2-1 with a goal from Chris Pittman.

The only goal in the second period was scored by Titans veteran forward Scott Bertoli at 3:54, and the teams were tied, 2-2, after 40 minutes.

The teams exchanged goals in the third period with Ned Havern giving the Titans a 3-2 lead at 4:53. Dayton tied the game, 3-3, with a goal from Matt Herneisen at 10:34 of the third period.

Former Bombers forward Mathieu Brunelle scored the game-winning goal 1:24 into overtime as the Titans posted the 4-3 win. Trenton outshot Dayton, 35-32.

The Dayton Bombers, proud "AA" affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, are celebrating their 15th Anniversary this season.
