Condors Finish Week With Thumping Of Phoenix Before Huge Crowd

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Condors concluded a three-game road trip and returned home Saturday night to beat the Phoenix RoadRunners, 5-1, in front of 8,328, the second largest crowd of the season, and sixth largest crowd in franchise history at The Nest. It capped a week in which the Condors earned points in three of their four games, going 1-1-2 in the process.

The Condors battled their Highway 99 rivals, Fresno, Tuesday night in a game that was postponed one night due to ice conditions. The Condors jumped out early but couldn't hold on as Fresno took the overtime win, 2-1. The following evening the Condors took on Stockton and dropped another close one, 2-1. On Friday, the Condors faced the Phoenix RoadRunners in Arizona and lost their third straight one-goal game, 3-2 in overtime.

The Condors are 31-13-8 on the season, including 19-7-2 at The Nest. On Tuesday, the Condors match-up with the RoadRunners for the third straight game and second consecutive time at The Nest in a 7 p.m. tilt. On Friday the Condors begin a nine-game road trip by heading up north to take on Alaska Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday and Saturday's games will have 8:15 p.m. starts and Sunday's game has a start time of 6:05 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 20:

CONDORS 1 @ Fresno 2 OT (Attendance: 4,910)

The Condors jumped out to an early lead when Josh Liebenow scored a power-play goal at 8:11 in the first. Fresno bounced back late in the second to score a power-play goal of their own. After a scoreless third period, Fresno was able to put the puck past Jamie Hodson with only 46 seconds left in overtime for the win.

Wednesday, Feb. 21:

CONDORS 1 @ Stockton 2 (Attendance: 4,107)

Similar to the night before, the Condors jumped out to an early lead when Kevin St. Jacques scored a power-play goal at 16:00 in the first period. The Condors once again couldn't hold on as Stockton scored once in the second and early in the third to tally the win.

Friday, Feb. 23:

CONDORS 2 @ Phoenix 3 OT (Attendance: 6,575)

After a scoreless first period, the Condors scored the first goal of the game early in the second period when Josh Liebenow scored a short-handed goal at 6:32. The Condors and Phoenix then flip-flopped goals the remainder of the second period and held each other scoreless in the third. Phoenix won it at 3:09 in the overtime when Todd Jackson beat recently acquired Rejean Beauchemin on a power-play.

Saturday, Feb. 24:

CONDORS 5 vs. Phoenix 1 (Attendance: 8,328)

The Condors scored first for the fourth time in as many games, when Rane Carnegie sent home a power-play goal just 2:47 into the first. Unlike the previous three games, the Condors never looked back or gave any ground as they made road kill out of the RoadRunners in front of the sixth largest crowd in franchise history. Five different Condors scored in the effort.
