Condors Double Up Aces, 4-2

Anchorage, Alaska - Brett Lutes scored twice and Yutaka Fukufuji stopped 32 shots as the Bakersfield Condors moved back into first place with a 4-2 win over the Alaska Aces at the Sullivan Arena on Saturday afternoon.
In a physical first period it was Bakersfield taking two separate leads and holding a 2-1 advantage through 20 minutes. Paul Rosebush and Brett Lutes both recorded their 11th goals of the season, with Rosebush's coming on a shorthanded blast to make it 2-1. Between the two teams, 53 total penalty minutes were handed out.
The Aces had allowed just two shorthanded goals all season long entering play on Saturday, but the Condors recorded their second shortie of the game during the second to make it 3-1. Ty Hennes found Rosebush's rebound from the bottom of the left circle and buried it at 17:23.
Alaska pulled within a goal with Kimbi Daniels' tally at 12:37, but Fukufuji stood his ground after that. The rookie improved to 8-0-2 in his last 10 starts, and the Condors got insurance from Lutes' empty net tally with 1:01 remaining. Bakersfield moved back into first place in the West Division with 61 points, awaiting the result of the Long Beach and Idaho match later Saturday night.
The Condors return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Friday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. After that game, fans will be treated to a live concert from international recording artists Hawk Nelson, presented by KKEY-TV 11 and Island Style. Hawk Nelson will perform inside Centennial Garden, free to everyone in attendance at the game.
