Brisson Breaks Victoria's Heart at the Buzzer

Fresno Falcons News Release
VICTORIA, British Columbia - David Brisson scored just as the buzzer sounded to lift the Fresno Falcons to a 3-2, last-tenth-of-a-second victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings at Bear Mountain Arena.
John Wroblewski opened the scoring for the Falcons when he jammed in a rebound past Victoria goaltender and former NHL first round draft pick of the New York Rangers Dan Blackburn. The goal came at 11:46 of the first off an assist from Jan Sochor and gave Fresno a 1-0 lead through 20 minutes.
Still leading 1-0 through the second period and into the third, Fresno's Sam Ftorek beat Blackburn to the stick side off a feed from Dan Tessier at 9:23. Moments later the Falcons went on the power play looking to bury the Salmon Kings. Instead, Victoria's Ryan Wade polished off a short-handed, two-on-one to pull his club back to within one. The Salmon Kings then tied the contest at two when Adam Campbell's poor angle shot from well below the halfboards snuck past a surprised Jamie Hodson in goal for Fresno at 17:37.
Seemingly headed for overtime, the Falcons drove into the Victoria end on one last rush. Dan Tessier worked into the slot on the forehand and had his shot blocked. But the loose puck caromed to the base of the right circle where Brisson pounced and dumped it into a partially open net behind Blackburn just as the buzzer went off. The goal stood and Fresno skated away with the 3-2 victory.
Fresno moves to 24-16-4 on the season and remains in sole possession of fourth place in the West Division with 52 points.
Coupled with the club's 7-3 win on Wednesday, the Falcons stay in Victoria looking to sweep this three-game series tomorrow before returning home for a clash with the Bakersfield Condors on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the game on Feb. 8 are on sale now for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at the Save Mart Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
